Mission
The Health Sciences Express bus services was established in 1973 to move Health Sciences, Harborview Medical Center (HMC), and University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) faculty, staff, students, and selected medical commodities between the University of Washington and some affiliated hospitals and branch University facilities in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. The service facilitates Health Sciences, HMC and UWMC operations by assisting University faculty, staff, students, and medical center patients and their families in conducting University, Health Sciences and Medical Center related business.
The service provides a partial alternative to the use of a private automobile, thereby substantially reducing vehicle congestion on city streets and reducing the requirement for parking at the University and affiliated destinations. The service is not intended to serve as an alternative to other modes of commuting for University and non-University employees and students.
The Health Sciences Express bus service is supported by funding from University of Washington, UWMC and HMC. The Health Sciences Express Advisory Committee is under Health Sciences Administration, Office of the Executive Director. June 30, 1993.
